An Active Body
is a Learning Body

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the objectives of our program?

To teach children ages 3 to 8 how to use their bodies correctly; developing their flexibility, coordination and overall body strength, while stimulating language acquisition. The activities are specially designed to exercise young bodies while at the same time stimulating the brain for improved learning, comprehension and retention of a new language, or reinforcment and enrichment of the local language. Through fun, healthy movement activities, the lessons help children open their minds to learning songs, phrases and new vocabulary. Our motto is 'An Active Body is a Learning Body'.

2. How does movement help children learn another language?

Children learn better during physical activity. Movement increases blood circulation for improved delivery of oxygen and glucose to the brain, stimulating learning. Ready-Steady-Move activities improve cognitive abilities through special movements that promote integration of both right and left brain functions for optimal language acquisition.

3. What do you mean by the 'Mind-Body Connection’?

Physical, social, emotional, and cognitive elements do not mature separately. Children's brains do not differentiate between thinking, feeling, and moving and learning – it's all related. Ready-Steady-Move activities utilize movements that exercise the body and mind in parallel, for good health, improved memory skills and overall learning ability.

4. How does Ready-Steady-Move differ from regular play?

The Ready-Steady-Move activities have been specifically developed to exercise children's cognitive, emotional, social, language and physical skills all at once. This is especially important since young children today spend much time engaged in relatively non-physical activities, such as watching TV or playing computer games.

Both language and movement activities in the Ready-Steady-Move program build children’s confidence and promote a feeling of success. This makes learning a positive experience, and greatly facilitates future language acquisition, while encouraging physical activity.

5. How are Ready-Steady-Move teachers trained?

Our teachers undergo a comprehensive 3-day training and certification in our teaching methods and learning materials. To be accepted, they must be certified movement instructors (such as Karate instructers or dancers) who work well with children, take pride in helping them reach their full potential, and enjoy doing it. Ongoing seminars and training keep them up-to-date. If you are interested in training as a Ready-Steady-Move teacher, please contact us at: info
